Ethics & Sourcing

No monkey business.
Verified directly.

We don't just certify our ethics. We verify them. There is a difference — and it matters.

01
No monkey labour
We source from regions where monkey labour does not occur. Not because a certificate requires it. Because we know — we have verified this directly with our farmers for over two decades.
02
No additives. Ever.
No guar gum. No xanthan gum. No emulsifiers. If the coconut percentage is high enough you do not need them. Ours is. If you see separation in the can — that is the quality signal, not a problem.
03
Fair farmer prices
We pay what the product is worth. Long-term relationships with farmers we have worked with for over 20 years. Short-term price pressure produces short-term quality — we are not interested in either.
04
Organic certified
Certified organic from the start. Not because it became fashionable. Because it was always the right way to source. Our organic certification has been in place since Cocofina was founded in 2004.
Sourcing

Verified directly. Not just certified.

Monkey labour in coconut harvesting is a real and documented practice in parts of South East Asia. Trained monkeys are used to climb trees and harvest coconuts at scale — an animal welfare issue the industry has been slow to address.

Cocofina has never sourced from regions where this practice occurs. We know our farmers. We have worked with the same sourcing relationships for over 20 years. This is not a claim made on the basis of third-party audits alone — it is knowledge built over two decades of direct relationships.

Our position: We source from regions where monkey labour does not occur. We verify this directly. We have done so since 2004.
Formulation

No guar gum. No xanthan gum. Nothing added.

Most coconut milk on the market contains 50% coconut or less. At that concentration, the product separates — so manufacturers add guar gum or xanthan gum to stabilise it and create the appearance of consistency.

Cocofina Coconut Milk contains 76% organic coconut. At that concentration, stabilisers are not needed. The product is thick, rich, and consistent because of what is in it — not because of what has been added to it.

Seeing separation in the can? That is a quality signal, not a problem. High coconut content means the cream rises naturally. Shake or stir before use. No guar gum needed — and none added.

The coconut expert who never compromised.
