FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why does my coconut milk or cream separate? Separation is a sign of quality, not a fault. Our coconut milk contains no guar gum, no emulsifiers, and no stabilisers — so the cream rises naturally to the top. Shake well before use or stir it in. If it didn't separate, something had been added to stop it.
What is guar gum and why don't you use it? Guar gum is a stabiliser used by most coconut milk brands to prevent separation and create a uniform texture. We've never used it. Our coconut milk is 76% organic coconut and nothing else. Most supermarket brands are 50–65% coconut with guar gum to make up the difference.
What does virgin coconut oil mean? Virgin means cold pressed from fresh coconut meat, not dried copra. It retains its natural aroma and flavour. The term "extra virgin" is borrowed from olive oil — for coconut oil, virgin is the correct and highest standard. They mean the same thing.
What is the difference between your Virgin and Neutral Coconut Oil? Virgin Coconut Oil is cold pressed and unrefined — it has a natural coconut aroma and flavour. Neutral Coconut Oil is also cold pressed but has no coconut flavour or aroma, making it ideal for cooking where you don't want coconut taste.
What is MCT oil and what's in yours? MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides — fatty acids derived from coconut oil that are rapidly absorbed. Our MCT oil is 60% C8 (caprylic acid) and 40% C10 (capric acid). C8 is the gentlest on digestion. There is no palm oil in our MCT oil.
Is your coconut water pure? 100%. No added sugar, no flavourings, no concentrate. Each batch is single origin — sourced from one location per batch, not blended from multiple sources.
What is coconut flower nectar? Coconut flower nectar is the sap drawn from the flower of the coconut palm. Ours is raw and unfiltered. It has won two Great Taste Awards — three stars in both 2015 and 2016.
Are your coconut aminos soy free? Yes. Our coconut aminos contain no soy and no gluten. They are brewed and aged from coconut blossom nectar.
Are your products organic? Yes. Cocofina is certified organic by the Soil Association — the UK's leading organic certification body.
Do you use monkey labour? No. We have verified this directly with our suppliers — not just relied on certification. This matters to us and we check it ourselves.
How long have you been making coconut products? Since 2004. Jacob Thundil founded Cocofina in the UK after growing up in Kerala, the coconut capital of India. We were the UK's first dedicated coconut specialist.
Where do you deliver? We deliver to UK Mainland only.
How much does delivery cost? Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on your order.
